MESSAGES FROM DEAD

CLERGYMAN’S BOOK. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). LONDON, Sept. 26. Viscountess Grey, of Falloden, introduces an astonishing record, entitled “Life Beyond death,” written by the Rev. Charles Drayton Thomas. It is based on alleged spiritualistic conversations with dead men and women.' From these, the author draws a vivid , picture of the soul’s release and its life i,n the next world. The author’s dead father, it is stated, communicated i; statement that he lived in a body which; seemed as real and as substantial as his earthly body. The people who died on earth gradually grew younger until they again reached their nrime. His father added: “After our family is completed, we shall all progress towards perfection in outward form. There are two spheres below ours. The definitely evil go to the lowest ' and the weak and selfish to the other. The scenery in the wicked place is tinted with hopeless drabs and greys.” Other messages, according to the author, say that sleep, food and drink are not needed in the next sphere. “I wear clothing,” says another message, “since it is a habit.,to think of myself in clothes, but it. is not necessary to be measured. We create clothes by thought alone.” • A young soldier killed in the war, it is stated, sent a message stating that he was glad to find animals and trees in the life beyond death, -but there were only animals that were accustomed to human companionship. Viscountess Grey expresses the opinion that the author has observed rigorous methods of investigation, which she says, puts a high value on his work. She adds: “Some, in all ages, have spoken with the dead, but messages are now being received.”
