Tiikuh is the [iromi.se of a good deal of district publicity this year through the medium of the illustrated Christmas publications. Both the Progress League and Tourist Society operating locally are arranging for full page advertisements in well-known and widely circulated publications. In addition, local business people are ui-oporatiiig, and through the same medium are also doing considerable advertising. Following the last successful season in ibis district, it may be expected that tho coming season will be even more [>opillar with the general public. This year there will be an extra string to the bow of Westland attractions, in that a. commodious accommodation house is to be opened at AA'elieku, nearby where are the special attractions of the Fox Glacier, a not unworthy competitor with tho Franz Josef. The opening of tho road to AA r elieka beyond AATii bo Gorge, also seems to open up a magnificent section of road which traverses some high country providing a wonderful outlook over a great expanse, of forest country with the Southern Alps, and its highest peak in the background. This section of road is outstanding in itself, and will tend to lure additional traffic further so'ii’ It seems evident that South AVestland will be particularly well patronised again, a fact that the district is coming into its own as a result of very notable, if not unique, attractions.
