ADDINGTON STOCK SALE. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 8. To-day was a double market at Addington, and there were some extra classy lines forward, for which there were exceptional prices. Fat cattle.—There was a short entry for a . “Double” market, only 605 head being forwarded. The quality was good throughout. Many show cattle were included. There was a rise of 30s to 40s oil last Wednesday’s prices. The market was keen throughout. Extra heavy steers sold from £25 to £3l 10s, and one sold at £4O; prime sold £l9 to £22 12s 6d ; medium £ls 15s to £lB 12s Gd; liMit £'l4 12s 6J to £ls 12s 6d. Cows sold: Heavy £l4 to £l6 10s, and one at £25 10s; prime £ll 10s to £l3 15s; medium £8 to £lO 10s; light £6 15s to £7 10s; others £6 6s to £6 ss. Heifers sold; Extra heavy £l6 10s, and one special to I 1£27; prime £l3 10s to £l4 15s; medium £lO os to £l2 10s; light £8 to £9 15s.

• Fat Sheep,—There was a large entry, including heavy exhibition stock. The top price for the day was £7 12s 6d. The greatest bulk of the exhibition sheep sold from £2 10s to £3 ss. Heavy wethers and heavy ewes and also medium sorts were firm at late rates, being in some cases a shade firmer. Values of heavy ewes were: Show sheep 50s to £7 12s 6d; extra good 45s to 48s; medium 39s to 445; plain 33s to 375; exhibition ewes 46s to £3; heavy ewes 43s to 46s medium 35s to 425; plain 25s to 345. ■Stoic sheep and lambs.—There wore only small oddments of lambs forward, and no lots worth quoting. In adult sheep the entry was very small. Breeding ewes were a shade dearer. Backward wethers were also a shade better. Four tooth ewes sold at 38s, two tooth Romney cross 40s; four, six and eight tooth ewes 41s; cross bred ewes 35s lOd to 375; failing mouth 31s 3d; Romney cross ewes 30s lOd ; nondescript ews 17s to 20s. Fat pigs.—There was a large entry. The nork market "--is firmer. The quality of the entry was very good. Good small porkers sold at 39s to 455; medium 46s to 525: heavy 54s to 625; extra heavy to £3 10s. The average price per lb was 76s to 80s. There was a small yarding of baeoners, and a limited demand. Light sorts sold £3 10s to £3 15s; medium

£3 16s to £4 2s; heavy £4 3s to £4 8s: extra to £5 2s. The average price per lb was Gd to 6Jd. A few outstanding choppers realised from £6 10s to £lO 2s. Heavy choppers sold £4 10s to £5 10s; medium £3 10 to £4; light £2 15s to £3 ss. There will be no market next week.
