TO FLY TASMAN

FIRST WEEK IN AUGUST.

SYDNEY, July 13,

Kingsford Smith expects to begin the flight to New Zealand between the first and fourth of August, hopping off at midnight (Sydney time), and taking advantage of the full moon. It was originally intended to await for new propellor blades, due on August 4th. but the fliers are prepared to venture with the present blades in order to have a good moon.

A statement published to-day that Keith Anderson would accompany Kingsford Smith and Uhn on the New Zealand flight, was contradicted by Ulna, who says the fourth member of the party will be a New Zealand wireless operator, who will he selected by the New Zealand authorities.

SYDNEY, July 14., Him discussing the New Zealand flight stated there was a vague possibility that the Tasman flight might be delayed until August 31st. The organisation was not by any means completed. Nothing was being left to chance. A trial flight with the Southern Cross would be held in about a fortnight. The wireless appartus was undergoing a complete overhaul and would be in better condition than when the aeroplnne left San Francisco.

U.lm anticipates the New Zealand flight will begin about nine at night and the plane will reach New Zealand fourteen to nineteen hours later. Many requests have been received from various towns in New Zealand asking them to land at each particular place. This was a matter to which they were looking to the JJominion Government for guidance Meanwhile, no landing ground had been selected.
