An inspection of the track showed the necessity of running a dr,-*-' from the track just north of the Cenotaph to Brittan Street drain and this work would require to he done before the tar-sealing is commenced. The Overseer has been directed to furnish an estimate of the cost of tar-sealing (a) the cycling track, and (b) the remainder of the footpaths which have not boon tar-senled. ,‘i. Tho matter of bevelling the inside of the track near the Cenotaph, which was brought up the Athletic Club and referred to this Committee for report, was looked into, and as the work can he done by the Caretaker, lie was directed to proceed without delay. ■J. As requested by the Counel to report on an alternative route for the pipe iino from the Kanieri Forks to the Lake, iu company with Air ALillncr. County Overseer, I went along the liver for the purpose of finding a line of even grade. We found one which in our opinion would he very satisfactory, it presents no difficulties l{>i- tile construction of a line, the grade is fairly even I rom the forks to the Lake, and is at a safe distance from the river. 'file advantage of tin* line lies m ...e fact that the grade is even, and the full benefit of the water pressure i would he obtained, the pressure from the lake to the Forks being about 200 feet. I would suggest that a line si he blazed along the proposed route, m make investigation easy lor future occasions, the proposed line lias also the additional advantage of being shorter than tile present one.
