(By Telegraph—Per Press Association. RAILWAY STAFFS COMBINE. BRISBANE, Dec. 7. The Council of the Railway Transport L iiions, representatives ot Station Master’s, Traffic and Maintenance Employees, Guards’, Shunters’, Signalmen and Salaried Officers Unions and Australian Federated Union of Locomotive Enginemen of Queensland has been formed. The main object of tne council is to investigate the circumstances and reasons for dechiring “ black ” any commodity carried on the railways and determine what action be taken by the unions comprising the Council should a dispute conceining “ black ” goods arise. It is estimated the collective membership of unions comprising the Council is more than sixty thousand and that it will have ample power to enforce its decisions.

MELBOURNE, Dec. 7. The Assembly passed a hill prohibit ing betting at mechanical hare coursing meetings. WOOL SALES. BRISBANE, Dec. 7. The third series of wool sales commenced. Competition was exceptionally keen for all grades, and the market. for all stylish wools, and wools showing quality advanced five per cent. Other grades were firm in sellers favour. Good scoureds in a dry condition meet with keen competition lup to last sale rates. '1 he other grades were irregular.
