WATERSIDE STRIKE COMMENCES SYDNEY. Nov. 21. The waterside workers’ overtime strike started from five o’clock to-day at all ports in Australia, excepting Queensland. Mr Seale, Secretary of Waterside Workers’ Federation, says action will be taken against all vessels, both interstate and overseas, and both sides will suffer severely. The watersiders were no longer receiving their overtime pay, which is -Is 3d per hour against 2s lid for ordinary hours, and the shipowners were caused considerable loss through the delay occasioned by the stoppage of overtime work. When the handling of important cargoes was involved, the strike was likely to have a specially serious effect upon loading and getting full ships away.
