BUTTER FAT PRICES
At the meeting of Directors of the Westland Dairy Company on Saturday last, the Dairy Regulations respecting the compulsory payment for butterfat were discussed, and it was considered bv members that the Regulations gazetted under the Dairying Industry Amendment Act were not generally known to suppliers. The Act in briet, states that id less per lb. of butterfat must be paid for first-grade cream than for finest, and Id for second grade less than for first-grade. In addition id per lb. less must lie paid for all grades of cream testing under 3o per cent. As an example if Is 3d is being paid for finest cream Is 2RI would be paid for first and Is 2£d for second grade and cream testing less than 35 pei cent, would bo Id less than the prices mentioned in their respective classes. These regulations are compulsory and defaulting factories render themselves liable to a fine of £SO for breaches of any of the above offences. Suppliers should therefore note factories have no option in the matter.
