Transport- Control Board for the whole Dominion. Counsel for defence is likely to appeal to the United Stales Supreme Court. The defence committee issued a call for a “world general strike.” on Monday. NEW YOKE, Aug. 10. The Full Bench of the Massachusetts Supreme Court denied the Sacco-Van-zetti appeal, leaving the Supreme Court of the United States the only remaining resort. The Court over-ruled exceptions taken from Justice Sanderson’s denial' of the writ of error, alsr exeeplions from Judge Thayer’s dema of motions for a new trial, the revocation of the sentence and stay ol exocu lion. It also dismissed a petition to. a writ of error which was presented to the full Hencii after Sanderson denied a. similar writ. This means that the Courts of Massachusetts have said the las:, word regarding the condemned mer. who must he executed by --tid August unless the Federal Court prevents the sentence lining carried out. Counsel now have applied for a stay of execution to permit them to apply to the latter Court. As a result of the Court’s adverse ruling Sacco and Yunzetti will now, It is expected, he returned immediately to tlie death cells, whence they were removed at the ei'eventh hour, when Governor Fuller granted a stay ot execution. Three rooms of the Newton Dark Kiosk wore destroyed by lire early this morning, and a. bedroom was badly damaged. The kiosk was used as a combined tea. room and private residence. and was owned by the Council and occupied by Mis Alice Hilda Cousins. The con tents were insured for £OOO (Royal) and the building for £BOO (Standard).

A remit was passed to amend the Act. to provide, for payment of reasonable exnensos in connection with the conference; also the establishment oi a central fund for the payment of conferences will ho given to-morrow.

L. .Cowrie, stated to-day, that although the United States Immigration year, under the quota system, opened on July I, the numbers allotted to many countries were already exhausted This applied a iso to New Zealand’s allotment of 1CK); enough applications having been received at the Wellington and Auckland offices to complete the fqitfota for the licxl year.
