“The Splendid Road,” a Frank-Lloyd First National picture, scheduled to be shown to-night at the Princess Thearc, was passed in review before a number of historical societies. “The Splendid Road” is a romance based on the California gold rush of 1819 and the producers referred to the historical societies for complete accuracy. Set in a place where every man was law unto himself, and at 'a time when neighbour was only another name for enemy, “The Splendid Road,” First National's latest release is said to b-ive acquired thrills without conscious effort. The film deals with tiie gold boom period of California, m the days of •' 19. Anna Q. Nilsson, Lionel Barrymore and Robert Frazer are featured.
