“THE SPLENDID ROAD TO-NIGHT.

“The Splendid Road,” a Frank-Lloyd First National picture, scheduled to be shown to-night at the Princess Thearc, was passed in review before a number of historical societies. “The Splendid Road” is a romance based on the California gold rush of 1819 and the producers referred to the historical societies for complete accuracy. Set in a place where every man was law unto himself, and at 'a time when neighbour was only another name for enemy, “The Splendid Road,” First National's latest release is said to b-ive acquired thrills without conscious effort. The film deals with tiie gold boom period of California, m the days of •' 19. Anna Q. Nilsson, Lionel Barrymore and Robert Frazer are featured. Frank Lloyd directed the picture which is based on Yinge F. Roe's successful novel of the same name. Edward Earle. Edwards Davies, Pauline Caron. Gladys Brockwell. Marccline Day, George Bancroft,’ Do Witt Jennings. Xnitz Edwards and Rmsel Simpson .'are prominent in the largo .supporting cast. I n some of the si-tines sertwa! hundred people are active.
