Burglars entered George and Doughty's warehouse, Victoria Street, and secured a small sum of money and goods estimated at about £2OO. The safe was not touhed. FREEZING COMPANY. At the annual meeting of the Taranaki Producers’ Freezing 'Works Company the report stated last yea i’ 214,358 boxes of hotter and 204,838 crates of cheese were .'handled, compared with 230,00(5 boxes of hotter and 191,010 crates of cheese the previous year. A resolution was carried that the capital be increased by the issue of two thousand new shares of £lO each, to provide for future development. Subsequently presentation was made to .Mr I). K. Morrison, who retires from the position of manager and engineer alter twenty-five years’ service. A FI I 'tE. CAMBRIDGE. Aug. 28. A lire occurred at Pukeroro near Cambridge in t.he early hours this morning, totally destroying the residence of C. Charlton. The occupants escaped in their night attire*, nothing being saved. The building, a twostoreyed one, and one of the oldest in tho district' was insured but details ase not -available.
