Tailored St. drain lias been carried to a point about one cliaiu on the north side of Weld St. and connections have been made with the various properties along the street. The man holes at Hamilton and Weld Streets will lie completed when the tide is favourable for such work to be carried out.

Repairs were made to two places on the Sewell St. drain.

Concrete pipes have been laid or both sides of Rolleston St. at the junction of Stafford St.

The traffic warning boards have been erected at St Mary's School, Sewell St., and at the State School, Hampden St.: crossings have been made to Mr Chesney’s, Ilolleston St., and to Miss Lynn’s, in Britton St., a water service has also been laid to the latter place. Tho matter of a channel crossing at the bottom of the overhead railway bridge has been brought before tlic notice uf the railway engineer. The ha lance of the bridge timber has been removed from the grader shed paddock to the Borough yard. Down pipes on the Healey St. drain were taken out and the drain cleaned. Several <T’ the tiro plugs have been cleaned and raised above tho road level. The trees and lavement fronting Macandivw Square have been cleaned up. Received. TENDERS. Tender-, were opened as follows: Removal of night-soil : —C. E. Sparki'S. £-10 per mouth: J. Taylor. £.‘Jl 10s per moot h. Mr Cotilsoit moved Unit the tender of Mr Sparkes he accepted. Seconded by Mr Blank and carried. Removal of rubbish: A DetlatT. £ll per moil lb; W. White. £8 per month. It was resolved not to accept any lender and for the Borough cart to be used for a period.

Tender for offal contract:- W. O'Brien £7O per year; T. M. Staine.s £OO. The tender of W. O'Brien was accepted.

In eomiootiuu with the Free Library repairs it was resolved to leave the renovating to the- Library Committee, 11 being understood that the painting of the new plaster work he deferred for 12 months. The Council rose at 9 p.m.
