Two nominations have boon received for tho Mastcrlon Mayoralty, necessitating an election. The nominations arc AL- T. Jordan (a sitting Councillor) and Mr A. Ilippcn cx-Councillor, and late chairman of tlio Trust Lands Fund). Only eight nominations were received for nine seats on the South AYard of tho Borough, necessitating a hvo-eiection. GISBORNE, April 20. There are two candidates for the Mayoralty, AH George AYildest (sitting Alayor) and Afr Fred Ball. There are seventeen candidates for nine scats oil the Borough Council, nine for four seats on the Harbour Board, and eight for five scats on tiie Hospital Board. TTAfARU, April 20. Afr G. Cartwright was elected .Mayor of Tomuka to-dav. his being the only nomination.
There are twelve candidates for nine seats on the Borough Council.
