Tlie. “Daily Express” Hanover correspondent says a demonstration in favour of Hindenbnrg’s candidature was carried out in accordance witli the traditions of Prussian militarism. Thousands of members of the semi-military Monarchist organisations marched past, an old Monarchist banner heading each company, every man carrying a s’ at the shoulder like a rifle. Huulenberg in full Marshall's uniform took the salute as the procession goose-step-ped past, bands playing “Deutschland Über A lies”. Inter, crowds of men, women, and children swarmed around Hindenburg’s house-and gave the Field Marshal an ovation most enthusiastically. Hindonlnirg received a deputation from the. national workers and said: “I agree with your ideals. 'What I can do in this matter will be doiv I am the man to carry through my 1 tr pose with the Lord's aril.”
