The Treasurer’s report in respect to

the recent Race Mooting showed a total oT receipts of £lBBl Is Gd and the expenditure £1731 11- lid leaving a credit balance of £l5O 5s 7d. The Govern-

ment taxation on the meeting was £7Ol 1.35. The Treasurer reported that flic total payments in taxation for the year covering three days racing was £23.31 2s 7d. In addition local rate? to the amount of £l3 12s 3d wore paid making a grand total in taxation L>v the year of L'2.377 !Is lOd. The Statement was received, members expressing dissatisfaction at tlie amount of taxation imposed, and a hope wa= expressed that, the Prime Alinistcr would carry out his promise in (August next and have the taxation substantially reduced otherwise it would be impossible for Country Clubs to carry on successfully under tlie present burden of taxation.

A letter was received from the New Zealand Railways Department, regretting that trains could not he supplied to Reefton and Otira in connection with the Easier Mooting. hut t iat a train would lie run to Dunol'io.- Re ccived. A notification was received from the Borough Council granting the occupancy of the Municipal Reserve at Hampden Street as a parking place for private motor cars.- Received. It wax resolved to have the area cleared ami placed in order for the purpose inteiid-

It was reported that two adjoining Crown sections had been applied for. for a similar purpose, the application being to the effect that the two sections referred to might he iucl'iik'd in the Race Course Reset re. The Caretaker was instructed with regard to undertaking the proposed impn veiiients on tin Race Course, and it was decided to confer with the Trotting ( lull at a. meeting to be held this week in respect to the general improvement scheme.
