ARTHUR’S PASS TUNNEL.

ELECTRIC LOCOS ARRIVE. [nY TELEGRAPH —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION-.] CHRISTCHURCH, April 10 The five electric- locomotives and one repair car for use in the Arthur’s Pass Tunnel were safely hauled to the Arthur’s Pass station. The trip was made slowly owing to the great weight of the train. The electric locomotives weighed 300 tons and the two steam locomotives 90 tons each and the speed was reduced six miles per hour over viaducts. The 87 miles was accomplished without a hitch except the heating of an axle box on the repair car. The electric locomotives will be run through the tunnel to the Otira end to-day, but it will he a little while before tests are made as the wiring is not finished.
