“[NINETEEN AND PHYLLIS.” TO-NIGHT.
Charles Ray & regular fashion plate in his latest First National starring vehicle “Nineteen and Phyllis” which will open at the Princess' Theatre to-night. In this production the star departs from his usual rube role, appearing in up-to-the-minute garb as a dapper nineteen-year-old city youth, whose two obsessions in life are Phyllis and a desire to be regarded as a Southern Gentleman. When his rival appears at a party attired in the only dress suit worn in the community, he at once gets busy and plans a new style campaign to win the favour of the fair Phyllis, but a barglar nearly spoils it all. Mr Pay’s supporting cast includes Clara Horton in the leading feminine role. Joseph I)e Grasse directed the production, based on an original story written by Frederick Sowers for Charles Ray. The latest Pathe Gazette showing all the latest happenings in different parts of the world and a two Reel Vitagraph Comedy completes a special programme to-night.
