The Department of Agriculture *as received the following cablegram, dated 31st. ult., from the High Commissioner, London: — Meat.—Trade is very quite for Homekilled. Continental supplies are heavy. Unusually warm weather is affecting conditions and reducing values, specially" of pork, wliich is selling down to Is 2d per lb. Average prices are: Beef Is od., mutton Is 6RL, lamb Is 9d per lh. The trade in imported meat is slow.

Butter. The market is quiet, buyers only operating from hand to mouth. Tlie Government ration is not being fully taken up. The retail price is still 3s Id per 11). Hemp. The Manila market is quiet and steady. October-Decenibcr shipment, is quoted at £56 per ton, buyers Decefnber-February and January-" March nhipnrients at £55 per ton, buyers. Febtrunry-April shipment, has l>een sold at £55 10s per ton. New Zealand hemp is nominal, high points spot £54 per ton. Deceniber-Februnry shipment at £52 per ton, and fair at £32 and £53 per ton respectively.
