Two interesting contests wore seen on the concluding night of the Northhwn Boxing AswM«itli«n carnival at Auckland. The principal attraction was the middle-weight professional contest, m Wi)ich Jack Heeney, of Gisborne, met (tleeson. of Sydney. The bout went the full 15 rounds, with Heenev always the letter of the pair. He scored frequently in the close fighting, and cjj-asiorinlly used a heavy right to much advantage. (Beeson boxed cleverly at times but the decision—a popular one—went t.o Hecn.v on points. (Bis Venn, and Jack Keenan met k decide the professional liglijtwvveigjht championship of the Dominion, and the issue was never in doubt. Keenan went for the holder of the title right from the commencement, and a fast and at times exciting battle ensued. Keenan punished Venn rather badly and at tbe end of the seventh round, tli e latter’s seconds threw in the towel.
