[BY TELEGRAPH—PER PRESS ASSOCIATION’] AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. NOTE TO GERMANY. LONDON, Jan. 3. The text of a Frencli Note to Germany is published officially. It details Germany’s shortcomings, but does not indicate retaliatory measures. The Note states the Allied Governments will deliberate on breaches of the Peace Treaty. The “Daily News” states that thc French and British General Staffs arc absolutely agreed regarding the facts, but differ as to whether civic guards in East Prussia and Bavaria should be demobilised forthwith, or later. The British view is that the guards arc necessary to combat Bolshevism and should not be demobilised over rapidly.

GERMANY AT WORK. LONDON, Jan. 4. The “Daily Chronicle’s” Berlin correspondent states that thc reorganisation of Germany’s industries is proceeding with feverish energy, notably i nthc case of glass manufacture. This industry made great progress in England during the war, but has languished since the armistice. One of the most important incidents is the unification of the electric light bulb industry, whereby the Osram Company secures a virtual monopoly of the manufacture of bulbs in Germany. Its capital is being raised to 250 million marks. ANGLO-JAP ALLIANCE. reuter’s telegrams. •(Received This Day at 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, Jan 4. Doctors whilst recognising the seriousness of the disease for which no cure has been discovered, are of opin ion the situation is at present not alarming, in consequence of the comparative scarcity of cases.
