'The public have been asked to refrain from untoward demonstrations, also from rushes; and from throwing confetti and flowers, and to assist bodies of police apd troops in their duties of seeing the programme carried out in an orderly manner.

The great'.battleship showed well up in the clear morning light as she drew in towards Hie Heads and swung through. For miles outside, the cliffs were black with watchers. The shares ■ and hills inside the harbour were alive with humanity. Tlie Renown made stately progress through lines of moored warships, booming out the Royal Salute as she passed, while the whistles of innumerable steamers added to the din of welcome, as she slowly slid to her anchorage outside the warships line.
