(By Electric Telegram—Copyright.) A CONSTABLE SHOT. LONDON, May 2. Constable Henley, while patrolling Bishop Street, Limerick, was shot in the leg. An armed police force raided the neighbouring houses, amid the crowd’s hostility, resulting in the exchange of shots. IRISH NEWS. LONDON, May 2. The Sinn Feiuers have tried the six kidnapped robbers they toolc on April 13th. The Sinn Fein Court sentenced them to deportation. It is reported the Sinn Feiners’ administration intend to execute the sentence, hut are keeping the sea port they go from a secret. The Irish. Nationalist members of the I House of Commons have issued a statement intimating tneir intention to withdraw from all future debate on the Government’s Home Rule Bill, as, they say; “It denies every right to the Irish people, and is an attempt to break up an ancient nation.!’
LAND QUESTION. LONDON, May 2. The “T'iiues” Dublin correspondent asserts there is an alarming growth of the agitation to have the land made available for the people in the West of Ireland. In County Clare the date of tlie renewal of grazing agreements was marked by the lawlessness of rattle driving. There was terrorisation of landlords by fires, shooting, destruction of fences, and warning graves being dug The agitation is for compelling a forcible surrender of land held by landlords to the people. The landlords are protected by the military. The soldiers are camping on their lands. The large and small landlords are equally being agitated against.
It is openly boasted,that the coining land fight in the West of Ireland, is gpifig to be the biggest ever seen in Ireland. '
The problem is intensified by the large number of young agricultural workers. These cannot flnd an outlet for "energies industrially, owing to the land monopoly. They are not allowed to ©migrate how as was the custom lor oO years past, during which millions of Irish went to America.
