CASES •IN DISPUTE. CHRISTCHURCH, March 31. The Conciliation Council was engaged in hearing the Moulders dispute. The Union asked for a five day week, and 3/- per hour, which the employers opposed. The Union eventually decided to accept a. 44 hour week, but would not agree to the employers’ offer of 2/3 per hour, including a bonus. A further hearing was adjourned. The Engineers’ dispute was also heard. The Union asked for a 44-hour week and wages' ranging from 2/9 to 3/- per hour. After some discussion tho Union agreed to a 44-hour week., with wages at a rate of 2/- per hour for engineers and 1/10J for stock workers, planers etc., with a bonus of 3d mi each ease. Other points in dispute were held over till the next day. ,

MOTOR FATALIT Y. INVERCARGILL, March 30. A motoring fatality occurred at Rakauliauka this evening. While a car containing C. Cnrnie and George Sullivan of Mataura Island was rounding a corner, Sullivan was thrown out and killed. Sullivan was a well-known horse dealer for many years, and one of the best judges of Clydesdale stock in this district. He leaves a widow and family.

GOVERNMENT RELIEF. t WEJ; LIN O TON, March 30. The Government has decided to provide relief for tilt; people who have suffered from the !ioods in the North of Auckland. Air Coates, member for tho district, aceoinpnied by an officer of tint Public. Works Department, left Wellington to-da v to visit the district, and will see for himself what is needed by the unfortunate residents. In the meanwhile authority lias been given for the issuing of clothing and meeting other urgent requirements. The latest reports indicate that the floods were more extensive than the. original messages indicated. OLYMPIC GAMES. WELLINGTON, This Day. A meeting to make arrangements for the proper representation of the Dominion of Now Zealand at the Olympic games at Antwerp in August next, was held here yesterday, when the following resolution was passed—“ That this meeting approves of the scheme of sending representatives to compete in the intcinantional Olympic games and pledges itself to raise the sum of £SOO as a quota for Wellington district.” SM.
