Messrs Mark Sprot and Co offered by auction the several properties in the. estate of the late Mrs B. M ade, including Pearn’s Brewery, Kumara; the Rapahoe Hotel; Bremond’s Hotel, Kumara, and other properties. Evidently the assemblage was not one of intending speculators for, with one exception, all the properties were passed in owing to the smallness of the bids made. For the Brewery only £llOO was bid, and for tlie Rapahoe Hotel (with 70 acres freehold) £1,550, so both were passed in. Two other hotels (Bremond’s and Bernhard’s Ngahere Hotel) attracted no competition. A dwelling at Kumara was disposed of for £75. Subsequently to the sale, we learned that Pearn’s Brewery had been practically disposed of and also the Rapahoe Hotel. Offers were received from a Wellington firm of agents for both the brewery and the Ferry Hotel (Rapahoe) and it is probable that in the course of a few days both these properties will change hands. , Every mother is more than pleased to have her boy appearing in a nice new suit, bought at Schroder’s—where vou can get suited at less than usual cost.
