UNITED PRESS REPORT.
SITUATION UNALTERED. LONDON April 3. The Press Bureau states that the situation is unchanged. Sir Douglas Haig reports that the whole front is comparatively quiet. There was local fighting last night and this morning in the neighbourhood of Douchy and Hertehurne. The British in this region killed many and captured machine guns and prisoners.
RUSSIAN LEGION IN FRANCE. LONDON, April 3. The Press Bureau states that the Russian General Lohvioky, who is serving in France, is forming a Russian Legion of volunteers to fight against the Central Powers until a lawful Russian government is recognised by the Allies, and makes-peace conjointly with the latter.
TROUBLESOME TRIBESMEN. LONDON, April 3. The Press Bureau states that punitive operations against the Alarris tribesmen continue satisfactorily. The Alarris have retired to the hills,® and offered no /•(“sistanco, confining themselves to isolated raids, in one of which a European and six Indians were killed, and three wounded. The. tribe is showing signs of surrender. The Khotran tribe has already submitted.
