SALE OF WORK.

The Sale of Work and ’Xmas Tree hold at St. Andrew’s Hall last night under the auspices of 'the Methodist Church was successful in pverv V number of willing workers had transformed the Hall with various decorative effects, so that when the doors were opened soon after 7 o’clock, a nleasing picture met the eye. The heavily-laden ’Xmas tree in the centre being a- conspicuous' feature. This wa s at once besieged by the children. ■>nd throughout the evening there was a crowd of people present, who patronised the various stalls.

Am exciting interlude took place about 7.45, when Santa Claus arrived with the prizes for the Sunday School scholars, and was received by them with nr> uproarious welcome.

Soon after this a splendid musical nrogramme was sustained hv Miss Edna Rorrv. Miss Maisie Reynolds, and Mr. trwin, all of whom were recalled for encores. The audience were equally enthusiastic in' their reception of the children’s items, viz., recitations by Norma Oihhons and Eileen Ryan, flute solo bv Leslie Gibbons, and an notion song by the “Tiny Tots”—Hazel Perry, Millieent WiTd, and Eileen Ryan At its close, the- Rev. H. Ryan expressed tbo thanks of the Church to all those willing and efficient performers .after which the buying and selling was recommenced, and the refreshment room subjected to a vigorous onslaught. The financial result has yet to he made complete, but after paying all expenses there will, he at least ;£3.> nett balance for the Circuit Fund. The following wore the stall-holders and their assistants:— General and Drapery Stall—Airs n. Smith and Miss Jones. Lollie Stall-Miss Celia Knight and Miss Nightingale. 7 Refreshment Stall—Mi* ißerendt. Mrs Robinson, Misses Walker. L. and E. Knight. Men’s Stall—Messrs Oliver and Duff. ’Xmas Tree—Miss Reynolds.
