PEDIGREE JERSEYS.

SALE AT NEW PLYMdUTH.

FAIR PRICES REALISED

The annual sale of female purebred Jersey cattle, held under the auspices of the New Plymouth Jersey Breeders' Club, took place at the show grounds at Waiwakaiho yesterday. Bidding was confined to a few, and was rarely spirited. In spite of this prices were j very fair, a catalogue of 50 cattle being; disposed of for a total of £2204, which averages about £44 a head. The highest price of the day was brought by Mr Roy Parkin's cow Eaton Lady Bird, by Pencarrow's General—Prairie Flower, which was knocked down to Mr A. Zurcher, of Longburn, for 230 guineas. The only other animal to bring a three-figure price was Mr Parkin's heifer Ashton Lady Eileen, by Majestic Swan—Eaton Lady Bird, which was sold to Messrs Murray and Martin, of South Canterbury for 100 guineas. Interest in the sale waned considerably towards the end of the afternoon, and a number of animals were passed in at comparatively short prices. Others were withdrawn from sale, and of the 61 beasts catalogued 11 altogether -were not disposed of under the hammer.

The sale was conducted by Messrs Newton King, Ltd., in conjunction with Wright, Stephenson, Ltd., Mr 'Ken Kirk wielding the hammer for the former and Mr J. C. Broad for the latter. Mr C. E. Robertson watched the proceedings on behalf of Wright, Stephenson, Ltd. Following are details of buyers and prices: On Account of Mr R. L. Parkin.
