FAREWELL SOCIAL.

Last Friday night a farewell so«ial and euchre party was tendered to Mr and Mrs. A. Morse, as they are leaving the district, after being on the railway staff at Manutahi- for -iiearly twenty years, and intend to sefoie at Aramoho. The stormy weather had cleared up for the evening, so a large number gathered in the hall for the occasion. The early part of the evening's entertainment was devoted to euchre, the winners proving to be: Ladies, Miss Enid McLachlan, and gentlemen. Mr. A. Morse. After the prizes had been distributed Mr. A. B. Muggeridge, in a few well chosen words eulogising the guests of the evening for their many g n £ ?, ua; hties' Presented'them with a well filled wallet from the residents of Manutahi. and wished them every prosperity in their new home. Mr Morse on behalf of himself and his wife feelingly responded and thanked them The assemblage nil joined in, sinjrin^ h^rtily "For They are Jolly Good Fellows."

A bountiful supper provide by the ladies was partaken and done full justice to.

Dancing was then indulged in During the interval between the dances songs were sung by Miss Johns and Mr. Wards, the^e items being heartily appreciated The music forlhe dance was supplied by local ladies A unique accompaniment by J. and T Killalea, consisting of mouthorgan, two bottles, cup and spoons, jingled togetner, caused great merriment The dancers waltzed to the strains of this quaint music.

The evening's entertainment was brought to a close about 2 a.m. Mr U. b. Barclay acted as M.C The words of Sir Harry Lauder's song appeals to me. viz., "Old friends are best friends, sunshine or rain; so good-bye, good-bye till we meet again." HALL MATTERS. There is some talk of a big working bee in the near future, to have a *eneral clean up at the hall and improve matters generally.
