VIEWS OF EGMONT
(By Telegraph.—Special to Star.) WELLINGTON, May 16. Ihe Government's Pictorial News a selection of New Zealand films prepared by the Government Publicity Department, was shown to the Hon G J Anderson, Minister in charge, 'to-day and indicates that his Department is taking a progressive step in providing tor film patrons an attractive series of pictures which will advertise the Dominion throughout the world One feature is a Zealand Pictorial Tf WSi 4 to. be, Periodically circulated, me nrst of the series contains excellent views of the special service squadron entering Wellington, the reception and the march past of the naval men • some typical Maori games, into which light comedy is deftly introduced, and a study of the tuatara lizard in its natural habitat. Finally the picture allows the attractions of Mount Egmont and some studies of the summit with cloud effects, reaching a high degree of pictorial excellence. The Department has also prepared a new fil m illustrating the exciting sport of sword hshing off Mayor Island. Bay of Plenty Despite the extreme difficulty in photol graphing thi s subject, splendid close-up views were obtained of large fish on the line, their great leaps into the air, and the lively experiences of the angler before landing his catch. The scenic aspect is also well to the front. It is intended to maintain a regular supply of jthis class of film, illustrating also c£ c ~omimcm's productive activities. The Department is being assured of a good circulation through influential film distributors outside New Zealand
