The inquest on George Smith, aged' 28, a fireman on the steamer Kent, who> was killed in attempting to dive from a mast yesterday, showed that hewaited some time for a lull, hut the* wind seemed to catch him as he dived, and he struck the rail. Deceased was a* good swimmer and diver. A verdict, of. accidental death through striking^ tfrei ship's rail while diving from the-main; mast was recorded. ,
