FIREMAN KILLED.
ATTEMPT AT HIGH DIVE

In an attempt to dive from a height of 40 feet from the mainmast of the steamer Kent, at present in port, a fireman named George Smith, aged 28, a native of England, struck the deck and was killed instantaneously. It is understood deceased was a married man with a wife in England.
