MY GABLX—PBSSS ASSOCIATION—COPYBIGJM SYDNEY, Sept. 25. In the Assembly to-night, on a private member's n>otion moved by Mr. "Oann, the Government suffered a dramatic defeat, though not much political -• significance is attached to it.

Mr. Cann moved that the granting of •ifcitles was contrary to the sentiments ■a-of ■ the people of New South Wales. He said the granting of titles was a disgrace, and he condemned the manner of their bestowal. After a short debate the motion was vby 39 votes to 24.

Mr. Lang (Leader of the Opposition) stated that he accepted the vote as a expression that Parliament would open the way for much needed reform. The system was a scandal and - .-a disgrace.

On the motion of the Premier (Sir '-•■•"George Fuller) the House immediately .^adjourned.
