QUEEN CARNIVAL. [ The Maori carnival queen committee! are holding a dance &x, Auroa to-nior- I row night (Thursday) in aid of Vieiri queen. The ladies' committee have every detail well in hand. Everything in connection with the ball will be of the best; first-class music, supper and floor; also card tables for those who do not dance. The committee are catering for all, and a pleasant evening is guaranteed. Tickets are selling rapidly, and a recqrd atendance is assured. (From Our Own Correspondent). Interest seems to be well maintained in connection with the State School queen contest. There is little diii'erence between the three candidates at present, and as far as can be seen it is doubtful which candidate for the loyal honours is going to win. The Jelling" is to close on Saturday, October Lu. end the coronation is to take rla'e m the Town Hall on Friday, Ovtjber 26. In connection with, the coronation there is to be a royal ball. Very artistic souvenir programmes, which also contain the ball programme, are boing prepared. Everyone should purchase one of these on the evening, as a reminder of what will be a "red letter night for Mariaia. The orchestra will also be "royal." At present the position of the fla^s is: Town, Country, Maori. The guessing competition for all the valuable articles on view in the Kaupok. window closes on October 19.
