Writing of the five-mile C.C.C of New South Wales at Randwiek racecourse, the Australasian says it was remarkable that the record for the race (M. J. Mackenzie's 27.53, last year) was beaten by the four men first home. ±he Zealand three«-mi!e champion (Rose) made the pace very hot, and led the first round by 40 yards, and second round hy 100 yards. At the third lap he still led, but only five yards ahead of Hayden, Bailey, and Mackenzie, boon after he stopped, but soon o-ot going .again, and in a hard1 finish iust beat Mackenzie for second place, finishing over 20 yards behind; Bailey. Another New Zeaiander was tenth.
