DAIRY SHOW IN JOHANNESBURG.

Giving his impressions of a Johannesburg show attended by him r a "Young Scotsman" writes to the North British Agriculturist. His first impression was the permanence and solidity of the buildings. The ring for parade reminded him of the great Rugby international ground at Inyerleith, with a magnificent grandstand. There were 34,000 present on Good Friday, and in all "nearly 100,000 people attended. The show was open five days, the charge for admission being 2s 6d for adults and Is for children. He says that a feature of the stock was the success of the Ayrshires. The big awards — two hundred guinea cups —went to a fine bull, Kirkland Admiral, which, he says, is considered the best Ayrshire bull living to-day. The silver challenge cap for group of two and progeny went to the same winner's cow, Howie's Carolina, and two young bulls out of this cow and sired by the champion secured first prizes. The winner in the yearling class was Bumbrae Sir Hugh, and the champion junior bull was Burnbrae- Defiance. The only other breeds represented were Shorthorns, Aberdeen Angus, and Erielands.
