ST. MARY'S FLOWER SHOW.
SUCCESSFUL CONCLUSION
Interest at this popular function continued unabated right until the time of closing last evening, and business was brisk at all stalls throughout. The results are not actually available yet, as; more have yet to come in. They are, however, considered very satisfactory, a tribute to the many enthusiastic and keen workers in every section. There was a large attendance last evening, and all took a great interest in the show. The proceedings were much enlivened by the excellent programme of instrumntal music given by Mooseman's orchestra. 'Phis valued assistance was given entirely without fee, and to the orchestra the committee owe a great deal: The excellence of the music, was very favorably commented upon by the visitors. The hon. secretary, Mr T. G. Liddington, again put in yeoman work, which was very "heartily appreciated. The ladies in charge of the stalls have had two strenuous days, in addition to the solid work of preparation. Their efforts have been most helpful to ihe committee and secretary.
The side shows and the guessing competitions were well patronised, and were the scene of much interest and amusement. In the sheep-guessing the correct weight, 118lbs, was guessed by Mr E. West. , The number of peas in bottle, for guessing which a box of tea had been awarded, was 528, and Mrs Wright, of Waihi Road, with a guess of 529 secured this prize. Befoi'e the end of the evenr^f; various articles w«re auctioned, the. hammer being wielded by Mr J. C. Smith, and realised a fair amount. Altogether the ftinction has been most successful, and reflects great or^dit on all concerned.
