MUEHAY DEFEATS BLACKBURN. (BY TELEGJMPTT —PRF,BS ASSOCIATION ) WELLINGTON, July 11. Les Murray (Southland) defeated Clarrie Blackburn^ (Auckland) before a record crowd at the Town Hall to-night, and thus retained the light-weight championship of New Zealand. Blackburn did all the attacking in the first seven rounds, but Murray showed superior ringcraft. From the tenth onward Blackburn took a great deal of punishment, but retaliated gamely. The referee stopped the fight in the fourteenth round, Blackburn being almost out.
