SOLDIER ADVANCES.

LOANS WHEN AVAILABLE

(BY TELEGRAPH —PItESS ASSOCIATIOy.) WELLINGTON, June 22. In the House this afternoon Mr J). J. Sullivan (Avon) asked what was the position regarding advances to soldiers \mder the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act. The Prime Minister said there were a number of men to whom advances had been promised, and these commitments would be met as money became available. When the State Advances Amendment Bill became law the soldiers' position would be improved, but he pointed out that lie could not shut out all other people from getting advances in favour of returned soldiers.
