At a meeting of the New Zealand Immigration Land Settlement League, Mr. MacKenzie (chairman of the Auck!and Harbour Board) presiding, Mr. Hudson (chairman of the Chamber of Commerce) said that some proposals foefore the conference were such that the clviniber could not countenance. Resolutions were carried expressing the urgent need for a more progressive land settlement immigration policy; ■than, the head of the Department should possess knowledge of similar work in other countries; that our Railway and Public Works Departments should cooperate- to provide railways and roads of access to give effect to such policy.
