j (From Our Own Correspondent.) A grand garden fete was held in the Auroa Hall in aid of the Methodist i Church. The Rev. Roberts, in a few ' well chosen words explained the object m view, and expressed his thanks to all tor their cordial support. Mrs.F. and C Muggeridge and Mrs. Davidson were in charge of the fancy stall, sweet- and cakes were under the supervision of Miss Hall and Miss Duff, fruit salad stall was under the able supervision of Miss Hooper and Miss Holland, Mr. Hall proved himself an efficient, butcher in his stall, while Messrs. Layland and Plant brought their persuasive powers to bear with effect as sellers in the produce department. Tea was dispensed by Mrs : Hooper and Mrs. Dillard, and, judging by the number of returns, it spoke weS for the excellence of the tea. Competition for the most popular girl resulted in a tie between Miss. M. Davidson and Miss R, Johnson. Mr. D. Lewis won the first prize for the ugliest man la the guessing competition Mr. Ken Muggendge guessed the correct -weight of the cake, and the wool-winding competition was won by Mr. C. Jones i The committee—Miss Hall, Mrs F« and C. Muggeridge, Miss Dutt, Mr. Bailey, Mr. A. H. Brown and Mr W» J. Brown—must have felt gratified > with the results,, no less than £75 12s 2d being taken.
