One of the outcomes of the Maittand coal strike Vi that coal is being shipped to Australia, and two cargoes of British coal, totalling 12,0i)-J tons, have been purchased for Adelaide at prices on a par with local Newcastle coal. It is also stated Welsh and American coal is under offer.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. The coal position remains unchanged, and available stacks are being steadily depleted.
