Otago Council of the Farmers' Union carried a remit to the eH'oft that it having recently been brought wr der notice that soldier settlers are l;eing gradually ousted from their fun: ,s a rl er serious personal loss being experienced, owing to having acquired land at inflated values, the conference inges rhe Government to nvafcsrnlly reduce the capital value to such a point that \^f ze men will be able :o stay on the latid and make a living. It was decided to approach the Minister of R-ulways vnfh a request that a generil lediv.tion in freight on all primary ptw^ucts be granted, and to support the establishment of a dairy producers' board.
