BRISBANE, June 6. | Mr Bruce, in a. speech, announced ithat the Commonwealth would contimw its embargo on black grown sugar for a further period of two j'ears, subject to the industry forming a pool free I front Federal Government control, and ! "buying- raw sugar at not more than £27 per ton, the pool to provide sugarj for the purpose of manufactured goods ' for export at a price equal to the curawt world's parity, the price for raw -sugar for 1924-25 to be determined after ii>ventilation by a tribunal, but not to exceed £27. After June, 1925, the andufi\T vi3l be protected against un"fair competition by mains of a Customs duty in the s«>me way as other industries in tr-* Commonwealth. The proposals wonUl involve a reduction in the retail price of a per.ny per pound early in. October. Sugar for the home -trade will be reduced at least £5 per -ton, and fo, r export at the actual -world's parity in such a manner that manufacturers will'not be at a disadvantage by not having freedom to import.
