WAIKATO MARKET.

Ihe Farmers' Co-op. Auctioneering Co. report:— Bern :—There has been no alteration in values m the primer quality since our last report, but exporters are operating m a quiet way ou tne plainer stee-rs, and* although no great improvement in values is inaniiest, this class meets with a readier sale. Cow beef is unchanged. Mutton—Fat sheep con. tinue to meet strong competition at all sales. Values are very mm, with an upward tendency, although the small yarcliugs are assisting to keep the market up. In ail probability the good prices will influence holders-to realise and create larger offerings, but there is every indication that- good values will rule throughout the winter months. Store cattle—ln keeping with beet, steers show little alteration. There is competition up to certain values, but the prices realised must be disheartening to sellers. The bulk of the jardings are, however, sold. Althou"gh early in the season, in-calf heifers have been the subject of a good deal of inquiry, and a number of sales have been made privately. There should be good business transacted in this: direction in the near future. With the exception of Jersey heifers, calves are: v very dull. Empty 18-months heifers are being inquired for. Store sheep—As predicted, the improvement in mutton has created -an inquiry for the unfinished article, with very few offering. An entry of forward or store wethers at any of the sales just now would meet with gooid competition. Lambs continue to sell well. There is also an inquiry for ewes in lamb, but few are quoting. Pigs continue to sell well, and this year's values in comparison with calves will undoubtedly influence still more farmers to fatten pigs and abandon the idea of profitably rearing calves. One wonders when the tide will turn. Horses — All jov.r[<r heavy draughts and good farm sorts sell well at' the different sa:es | i
