WELLINGTON, May 8. j At the Farmers' Union Executive, the Minister for Agriculture wrote that | experiments in the late cutting of Californian thistle with the object of checking its spread had not revealed any advantage, and the experiment would not be proceeded with further. The question as to the necessity for revaluing returned soldiers' land was brought up by letter from the Returned Soldiers' Association, and it was agreed by the executive to keep the matter in view, but until the reports of commissions of enquiry were received the executive could not take any action. The Workers' Educational Association wrote asking for financial sujpjport from the union. Several speakers acknowledged that good work was being done by the association, but it was urged that more information should first be obtained as to the nature of the instruction given. The disabilities of children in the backblocks with respect to education were emphasised m a letter received.
