GENERAL ELECTION.

♦ "... I WESTLAND SEAT j ' The elect, op in t#ie Westland constituency promises to be interesting, although at present much shuffling is going on, says an exchange. Mr. James manager of the Grey River Argus, has been chosen to again carry Labour's banner for the seat. He will certainly go to the poll. That means that Messrs. T. E. Y. Seddon, Jesse Steer., and O'Brien are definite candidates for the seat, i>ut rumours are that another candidate, even two candidates, may enter the lists, one a well-known Greymouth man, as an Independent, and the other a prominent Hokitika resident, as an Independent Reform candidate. It is probable that Mr. Seddon will feel the effects of the strong opposition against him, and he will be.lucky to regain his seat. ,

Through an unfortunate clerical error there appeared in the report of the court proceedings in yesterday's issue of the "Star the statement- that judgment had been given for plaintiff by default in a case Maunder and Co. v. Edith McLean. As a matter of fact there was no such case, and the name McLean should not have appeared. The defendants were Campbell Bros. In our advertisement columns will be found a list of Hawera town agencies for sale of the Star, with the hours of closing of the respective establishments. Copies of the paper are also procurable at the Star Office up to 5 p.m. daily, including Saturdays.
