OPUNAKE'S ANNUAL OPENING-

Tne annual opening of the local green was celebrated on Wednesday, underideal weather conditions. - The caretaker, Mr. E. Elvines, had not spared himself in preparing the green, and the visitors were delighted at finding it in such good playing order. The president (Mr. N. Andrews) briefly welcomed the visitors, and after an appropriate speech Miss Nancy Andrews formally opened play by throwing the jack. The visitors were hospitably entertained to afternoon tea, and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent by all.

The usual opening match, President v. Vice-President, resulted in the former winning by 82 to 54 points. Following are details of the play,, the president's side being mentioned first in each instance:
