THE WAR DEBTS; QUESTION
BX 0A.81J4--i'lliiS3 ASSOCIATION—COPJfRIGUi Received Oct. 14, 9.35 a.m. PARic^ Oct. 12. A high authority m axie Ministry of', Finance,_ explaining France, s. financial, outlook, says there is not the slightest , possibility of i'ranee nieet.iig any por-j tion of her war debts or interest there-; on daring the next: four years, as all, receipts must be devoted to the re- j building: of her devastated regions, j France could not accept the suggestion that her promise to pay on demand should be replaced by'% series' of securities, fixing definite dates for the repayment of principal and interest. France was earnestly seeking a formula for the- settlement of European debts and reparations, and will probably submit a detailed scheme to the interAllied financial conference at Brussels, suggesting the fixing of Germany's indebtedness on the basis of reparations, only wiping out the pensions allotments claims. This will reduce France's claim by a quarter.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
