Late in August, London Sporting Life1 said: "Wfiile batting for the Band of Brothers against the Royal Marines at Walmer Barracks, Lord Harris met with a mishap. His Lordship had reached double figures when 3 in attempting a short run. he fell and injured his right thigh. He was assisted off the fiiTd and attended by the barracks doctors. Lord Harris said: "This will finish my cricket for this season. I was to have played for the M.C.C at Lord's against the Canadians, But now I shall have to rest and get fit for next season.. I hope, however, to be. able, if possible, to, get down to the Dover Festival this w;eek.' J Lord Harris was born in 1851, and it is. 44 years since he captained an English team rh Australia.
