AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
The amateur athletic season will shortly be in action in all parts of the Dominion, says an exchange, and the 1 indications are that all forms of athletics and field games will have their ranks considerably augmented. The I indications are that amateur athletics are coming rapidly back to the popularity and the prominence they " eni joyed before the war. I There will soon be a move on the part of the local cluß to make arrangements for the new season. The promise of last year was most encouraging. There are a number of good performers^here, and meetings held were most successful^ and promise well for; the future. An endeavour should be made to get a visit from the Americans. It would give a fin© stimulus' to a great sport. There also , likely to be an Australian team in N«w Zealand this year,; so* that held events promise to take more prominence than ever before since pre-war times. One has only to' recall the champions of the past to recognise the possibilities of the future.
